Sustainability

By following a stringent approach to facility management, Willingdon Park is at the forefront of sustainable choices in Metro Vancouver.

Phases 8 and 9 are LEED Gold certified from the Canada Green Building Council's (CaGBC) Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System™. LEED is the nationally accepted benchmark for the performance, operation and maintenance of high performance green buildings, promoting a multi-faceted approach to sustainability, recognizing performance in five key areas of human and environmental health:

  • sustainable sites
  • water efficiency
  • energy & atmosphere
  • materials & resources
  • indoor environmental quality

In addition, all buildings in Willingdon Park are managed and have received BOMA BESt certification. BOMA BESt is a national environmental certification program recognizing commercial buildings where environmental best practices have been implemented into the operations. The program identifies 'best practices' benchmarks for professionally managed buildings in the following areas:

  • resource consumption
  • waste reduction & recycling
  • building materials
  • interior environment
  • tenant awareness
